If I were to add that step, I would feel better if it had a longer, and very stiff, c-channel base attached that would extend all the way out to the edge of the platform. I just think this step would create a large moment, or leverage if you will, at the attachment point and possibly crack or tear through the platform over time. Especially with heavy people using it. Which let's face it, the young kids don't need it. It's us older, heavy out of shape crowd that need one.
