Dog Lovers
So my wife and I just got a new yellow lab puppy last month for christmas. We've always wanted Lab's...great family dogs, water dogs, and hunting dogs. We are definately planning on bringing him along on the boat this summer. To anyone out there who brings dogs along on the boat...besides keeping their claws clipped, is there anything else you would suggest to prepare. Either for the dog or for the boat so it doesn't get damaged. We will probably also get a life jacket for him since we do spend a lot of time in the water. Thanks.

Either put booties on him or Soft Paws covers on his nails. Both work well. The biggest problem your gonna have with a lab is chewing!

Haha...yeah...my bad....here he is when we first got him. His name is Hunter. He is already half-again as big. He is going to be HUGE when he gets full grown! These were taken when he was about 6 weeks old.

Just walk them on the road or trim the nails---other than wet hair sticking to everthing, the boat will survive. Saw a black lab at the Atlanta jam that had pink nail covers and they were very soft for the seats and stuff--dog didnt even care about them after the 1st time the owner said.

We used to have 2 German Sheppards that came out on our boat with us all the time, but since the Moomba and our Hyper Springer no dog on boat anymore. Too much water and too much dog hair for my liking as my dog will not get out of the water, just loves chasing the swallows around the shallow water in front of our house.

Here's our Ozzy, a mini dachshund. He's cool on the boat always sleeping when it's moving, as you can see when stopped it's all fun and games. Swimmin' with mom, lickin' my face and general hangin' out is all good.

Our Rat Terrier/Chihuahua loves going on the boat. He has a neon green life preserver. I use a dock line as a leash. He hates water but on hot days he doesn't mind being dunked in the lake.
