Colors (especially on a boat) are very personal and in my opinion, there isn't really a wrong answer. Some will be hotter, harder to see, harder sell, etc...but if the one writing the check is happy then all good.

I appreciate the feedback on the surf pipe. I've done lots of research and also a very hot topic, but what I've gathered is that factory is better than aftermarket if you have that option, and that most who purchased one as part of their build have no regrets. My dealer's experience with welds may have been with some of the after-market ones mentioned previously.

Even though it's a bit pricey, surf pipe is a go on my build!

That's my take on the surf pipes as well. Seem the ones the factory uses doesn't have the issues the FAE and other aftermarket companies have with welds breaking. If I were building one today I would get the surf pipe. Not so much that the noise bothers me but I just like the idea of the emissions staying away from the passengers in the boat and surfer.

I do not have a surf pipe, but have been on boats that do. I i wish I had it now, but I won't add it aftermarket. My next boat will have one.

Well, I think I’m changing my order to the Kaiyen (Mojo is too big). I’m having second thoughts about the Craz for a few reasons. 1) It pains me not to buy the newest models/options, 2) resale may take a hit if the Craz gets updated next year (or discontinued?), but most importantly 3) my gut tells me the family will shift primarily to mostly surfing and I’ll wish I had the extra displacement of the new models.

Here are my thoughts on point two above. The Makai (24.5’), the Mojo (23’) the Kaiyen (21.5’), and the Mondo (20’) have all been introduced/updated the last couple of years and have a very similar theme. You then have the Max and the Craz. The Max makes sense as an affordable wake beast, but the Craz seems a bit out of place. It’s clearly the next to get an update (if at all) but what changes do you make, and it not overlap the Kaiyen? Does it survive? Does it become a smaller Mojo?

Lots of experience with the brand on this forum so would love to get your thoughts. Am I overreacting while in the excruciating waiting period?

I originally placed an order and built a Craz prior to SC shutting down the factory last year for COVID. Loved the traditional hull shape on the Craz... As I grew more impatient waiting for a newbuild, my dealer was great and got me into a Kaiyen that they had in inventory. To be honest, my family couldn't be more happy with the flip.

She looks great and does everything well with many features that are noticeably more upscale. I'm sure the Craz would have been a great boat, but this hull design is clearly the future of Moomba.

I own an '18 craz and agree with your analysis. The one thing that throws a little chaos into that is that it is the only traditional bow boat in their lineup (and really only the Axis T series as a competitor), and there are quite a few buyers out there that are drawn directly to that. I feel like the model is stuck in purgatory.

That being said, I love my boat! If I were buying new now, I'd buy a Mojo without a hint of a second thought. But I didn't (and still don't) prefer the '16-'20 Mojo. The bow of the Kayen is too small, otherwise its also a spectacular machine!

The biggest reason is because it will hang out of my slip. The other is it’s just my family of four and really don’t need that much boat. I’ve tried to justify the Mojo because I love the new hull.
