Try adding a set of Bennett Drop Fins to the older style wakeplate. I have a set on order to install with my autoflow 2.0 retrofit kit from Wakeland. The drop fins add more surface area and is equivalent to 1 size larger trim tab.

I am no expert by any means, nor do I own a setup with surf tabs, but the more I research and *think* I understand how the systems work I have to wonder if the drop tabs will hurt performance...
All the surf systems accomplish basically the same thing, create drag. This drag makes the boat crab sideways through the water and essentially makes one side of the boat longer than the other, thus making the wave converge on the short side. If you add a device at the transom that has vertical fins digging in, I would think it would counteract that crab motion.
All that said, it's just theory
