I have been struggling with this problem for a long while of the motor running too rich and blowing black smoke. 2 summers ago my LSV started running very rich and blowing black smoke after pulling a wake boarder. So performed tune up with plugs, plug wires, cap rotor, and the motor only ran worse. I just about had it and was going to take it to a dealer but I decided to buy a fuel pressure gauge. Started boat and gauge pinged to the limit of 100psi. Well looks like the pressure regulator went bad. Dealers and online retailers wanted $95 and up. I found the same pressure regulator was used in 1997 and 1998 Corvette. $55 dollars later and she is purring like a kitten on the trailer. Hope to water test this week.
That's good to hear. Where do you ride?
My Mom said I'm not allowed to get wet!
2008 LSV (sold)

We mostly ride in Black Creek, although we avoid on the weekends with all the drunks
