You should replace yearly, but honestly I replace mine at 100 hours, I don't always hit that. You could stretch to 200hr but I have heard several stories of impellers self destructing at 300hr.

When needed. It is inspected when winterized and replaced when I see cracks or pieces missing. I also carry a spare in the boat. The impeller serves no purpose except at low speeds.

I just replace it at the beginning of every summery when I change my oil. They are only about $30. Why not have that piece of mind.

I did not know this, since its connected to the Crankshaft it always spins the same RPM as the engine.
I know on the Mojo engines this is a serious pain to replace. On the 345 Surf engine its almost dead even with the muffler and is very difficult to replace. Once I go through all the trouble of removing it, I just install a new one LOL.
On the LSV it was a lot easier, and I just replaced it each winter.Malo <--- Means--Evil or Mean One. This explains a lot.

We get around 45-60 hrs./year so I replace every other year or about 100 engine hrs. Always keep a spare on board. Most recent one was missing a fin when I removed it.

I change mine every other year. There has been summers I put over 100 hrs on the boat and never had a problem.

Every year whether I put 10hrs or 70hrs on it. Had one grenade on my tige in the middle of lake havasu years back and spent hours on the water removing the trans cooler to get all the little bits out. Made a promise to myself that day that I'd replace it every spring. They're too cheap not to.
