LSV oil consumption concern
My 2013 LSV with the standard 330 hp engine seems to be burning a lot of oil. The boat has 110 hours on it, and had oil changes at 20 hours, 60 hours, and last winter at 100 hours. I'm putting about a quart now every 25 hours, seems a little high to me. Boat is used for both surfing and water skiing.
Last two oil changes at 60 and 100 hours, my dealer used Volvo semi-synthetic oil, 25W-40 weight oil. I didn't notice a consumption problem during the first 60 hours, could it be the oil type the dealer uses, or is this a problem with high load applications such as surfing? I may have my oil analyzed at a lab.ADM

LSV oil consumption concern
Doesn't seem too high to me if surfing. I'd try a different brand and see if it makes a difference. Also why 25w-40 instead of 15w-40?

I'll usually add 1/2 a litre of oil every 25 hours , using full synthetic 5w40

You're using the wrong oil. You need to get some Delvac 15W-40 in there ASAP

Why am i useing the wrong oil ? Its a 40 viscosity (high temp) the W is winter or "W" grade so 5 will flow better at startup COLD then 15 . Have you ever tryed to drain your oil cold ? Very slow and thick. Now emagine your engine trying to pump that thick W 15 on cold start . Thats why i chose W 5 and full synthetic for better protection .

My Moomba dealer selected the oil and type. Not sure why they went with the 25W-40. I plan to switch back to 15W-40 on my next scheduled oil change, but now wonder whether to use synthetic or regular oil as the boat had when new. Comments?

I'm doing my first oil change this weekend. I have the 5.7 325 and the oil cap says 15W-40 right on it. I'll use that, but thinking may use synthetic also. Would like to hear thoughts as well.

Lots of oil threads to scour through if you search, including comments from Engine Nut, our resident Indmar pro. I would stick with 15w-40.
