Default Wondering if this is a scam via Youtube contact?

So I get a youtube message tonight from a company claiming that they liked one of my videos posted, asked if I'm the owner of the clip, and that they'd like to use it in an upcoming commercial they are producing. Suggested they could even pay me a little something for it.

Disclosed full contact information, and seems to be a legit marketing / creative agency.

My first thought was bogus / scam / etc. But then looking at them closer it now has me wondering...

Anybody every heard of this place or a similar approach about wanting to use a video off youtube in their producing a commercial?
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

No, but Dusty's Mom once had a similar offer for one of her old videos.

whenever i'm not sure about something like that, i call and talk to somebody. Make sure they're willing to give you a direct number to call them back on.

Clip from over 3 yrs ago - not even that great really. A big redneck Chevy toy that I was about to get rid of so went out to play one last time to make sure everything still worked.

Doesn't seem to fit the theme of the work that they do at this agency - AT ALL.

Believe me, the thought was there. The Double-Dog-Dare was also there.

I was more thinking with my luck I'd either A) tip my truck over trying it and then not be selling it so easily or B) get shot at by some other redneck or C) have the Sheriff pull up and then get to explain exactly what I was doing or D) would be evidence used against me in court at some point by the rightful owner's insurance company...

neat vid. I bet if they want to use it, i bet it won't be in a good way. Maybe they're putting together a video for environmentalists about trashing our planet. Lol.

Kinda what I was thinking too but when I asked about the context of it they were actually working on a production to dispel the perception of "wheelin" or "muddin" as being a destructive redneck only activity.

So I told them they clearly had the wrong guy.

Get this - I've exchanged a few emails with the Sr Producer who originally contacted me and when the topic of compensation came up he went silent. A week later he's back - "Hey, we'll offer you $100 for your troubles. here's the release form, who and where do we cut the check to, etc."

    How cool is that?!
