Electric fuel pump
When you turn on the key to the "on" (not start) position, isn't the fule pump supposed to run and pressure up? I think mine did but now does not and the boat will not start but will with starting fluid.

Fuel pump
Is your boat carbureted, or fuel injected? The carb. motors will only activate the pump, if in the cranking position, and oil pressure is registered, to activate the fuel pump. This is done by the oil press./fuel pump switch, located behind the intake manifold and under the distributor. If it is fuel injected, you should always hear a 3second fuel pump prime at key up. If you are running into hard start circumstances, take the boat to a dealer. Brian Raymond

Injected. This is the same boat that has been experiencing sluggish performance when the throttle is advanced at any speed.

As a follow up, the electric fuel pump will NOT run at all via the boat's electirc system. The pump will run when direct wired to 12 volts.
The 3 15 amp fuses are okay and the 50 amp breaker button is in.
Can the fuel pump we wired via a direct switch connection and if so, is it a prime pump only or does it have to run all the time th eengine is running?
