2003 outback
So I found a 2003 outback, looks very nice but wanted to get opinions on use for surfing, boarding hanging out. 500 hours for an 03 seems reasonable? I really liked talking to the guy, I just get warm fuzzies talking to him so I think I may grab it. Has the wake plate, ballast, no perfect pass. A jet ski hit the side, he took nice photos of the small damage, says he was quoted 450.00 to make it new looking. What are the opinions on the outback?

I have over 500 hours on an 06. I've seen claims the average hours per year is 50 so I'd say its hours are normal to low.
I'd consider getting your own quote if there is gel damage. It's not cheap, I've done it.
Someone else will be much better answering the outback specific questions.2016 Moomba Mojo

I agree with KG, 500 hours on an 03 sounds low. I have just over 300 on an 08 and 200 of those I put on in the last 2 years.

What is a nice photo of jet ski inflicted damage? Be careful with structural damage. It may be a bigger issue. Personally, I doubt that I would purchase a boat with known damage from impact. Also, did this go to an insurance claim? That may affect your ability to get insurance on it.
While you can surf on an Outback, it takes a lot of weight.1997 MasterCraft 205

You'll be looking for a boat again next year. Why is this guy selling? Looking for a v-drive?

Wasn't enough to meet the deductible. The front of my jetski that was crashed was 10 times worse & never had a problem with it
As long it runs we are confident we can sell it up here for what we paid if not more. You guys see how I am running all over the place, all the ones in this price range go fast. It has everything I want on it so I am not going to stick money into it for the wish list. God I hope I dont have to stick money in for unknowns!
Guy is selling cause he is older, his kids are gone & he bought some huge Regal to entertain his friends and hoes.Last edited by racer808; 02-13-2013 at 09:45 PM.

Can you surf an Outback? Sure, but it comes with some downside just as slalom skiing behind a v-drive does.
Stay patient. Keep looking. Take some Ritalin.
