Any Jeep guys here?
I have an 87 wrangler that did its last emmisions test and I need to get rid of all the emmissions/Cat etc.
I just did a Nutter by-pass to bypass the ignition which controls all of the fuel/emmission etc.
The link: http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/ele...jn-ignition99/
I need suggestions on which way to go.
Which vacuum lines do I need
There is easily 50ft of vacuum lines in this thing with tie-ins to the exhaust, diphrams all over the place. Its a mess. I want to simplify things and clean it all up.
Rebuild Carb or replace
With the bypass I did I no longer need the stepper motor on the carb and don't want to replace it with a like carb. Do I need an aftermarket carb or can i rebuild the current one with any real improvement.
Not worried about milage just smooth idle and dependability.

sorry man... not much experience on the older carb'd stuff. Most of what I've wrenched on is all FI.
huge gains (via butt-dyno) by replacing the cat with a straightpipe though (on a '94). Just measure length & size of pipe you need, cut out the cat, and visit the local auto parts store for the pipe (with ends already flared) and a couple of clamps.Last edited by rc5695; 02-07-2012 at 01:30 PM. I've though of that but I have a couple emission tie-ins to the exhaust about 3' from the cat that need to be patched and are in a bend. So I was going to have a shop do the whole repair/removal.

I don't have a jeep yet but I'd sure like one. My problem is I go way overboard on most the the chit that I buy and know I'd be broke the minute I bought a project. That's why my purchase list is so damn long I gotta keep it to the boat and diesel (and shop to keep them in) at the moment.
