Update on my ‘21 Craz - the dealer recorded the whining sound and sent it to Moomba. Apparently, there are a number of complaints about the noise from the v-drives and they are having to replace them. Of course, they are on back order so just have to live with it for now. Dealer told me they see a large range of whining from extreme to almost silent. Depends on tolerances.
Wow! That's pretty interesting about them replacing drives due to the noise. But good for them if the will! That impresses me. I will mention that to my dealer when I take it in for service. On the sound dampening: When I took the floor up, the first thing I noticed is how the gas tank would seem to block most of the sound getting that far up. But, I had it up so I put on the mat anyway. I have thought about the back of the engine bay, but I think the trans cover had the most impact on sound. There is a thick foam seat back there already. When the ballast bags are full, I would think they block the sides pretty well.
