Bye bye carpet, hello upgrades!
This weekend saw the culmination of reassembly for our boat from carpet removal to speaker upgrades, LED lighting, and new sundeck vinyl. Dingy brown carpet and sun damaged vinyl took way to new EVA foam and fresh vinyl (minus the brown). Lot's of hard work in the baking sun but worth every second now that the floor is clean and dry and your feet don't cook!
Here's the original we were working with. Sun damaged and tired of people walking on it:
The old hatch material (engine and gull doors) was shot. Aluminum de-laminated from the honey comb core and panels severely bent:

Helper pup got confused when I said "let's go work on the boat". I think he heard "let's go boat"

Man that's a lot of work but looks amazing!
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Looks great. Did you use 3/8"or 1/2" HDPE. Are you happy with the EVA? The walkthrough is a great idea!

100% of the HDPE I used is 3/4", mostly for the structure support for the rear locker hatches. Used same for walkthrough because I had it on hand. The engine hatch could land a 747 with the eventual I-beam like construction it turned into. You would be surprised how cut up the main section is for the engine hatch to help clear the spark suppressor and the latch mechanism. Hard to get continuous support front to back, felt like overkill wasn't that overkill.
EVA is great so far. MUCH cooler than the carpet and bare fiberglass floor. Great thing is it sheds water quickly. It's softer than the carpet for sure too. The dog did panic trying to get out of the water and ended up scratching the surf deck pad slightly this weekend but already had a couple fin gouges in it anyway. Will replace at the end of the season probably, it's been on the surf deck for a year now. No fading, only complaint is it shrank around the perimeter about 1/8".
I see lots of people complain about it not sticking well enough so they use alternative spray glue. I have not experienced anything like that on mine. Clean surfaces well and it sticks like crazy!

Thanks guys! It was a bunch of work but I enjoy doing it. Besides, I'd rather show up with something old that turns heads than pony up for new and shiny ($$$), just my opinion.
I've read most all of both of your guys posts with everything y'all have done on your machines to get a bunch of ideas and inspiration, always impressive! Speaking of that, y'all have been suspiciously quiet with upgrades/mods lately.............
