So is that a no....?LOL
It is precisely fitting the prop’s taper to the taper of the shaft. Basically when you mount the prop on the taper of the shaft with out lapping it there are high spots (or low spots depending on how you look at it) in the prop’s bore that keep it from making even contact across the taper. By lapping it you sand down the high spots using a compound on the shaft so that when you mount the prop there is even contact across the entire taper.
There is a thread in the How To section that has a video about it but it didn’t get much traction so I figured I would ask here.

That sounds like a good idea....I tend to change props on my back in a driveway with an Acme prop puller inside of roughly 6 minutes. I have done this about a dozen times over 4 boats to date.
Even changed a couple times on a paddle board while the boat is on a hoist. That actually kind of sucks and I have lost a few tools doing that!
I haven’t seen a problem yet but shoot who knows!

Trying to perfect the goofy wave. Just put in new wakemakers 1300 pound bags in the rear lockers. Total ballast is 4600#. Ran everything full (100%) except port side at 75%. Starboard plate at 0, center plate 0, and port plate at 60. Speed 10.1. Still working it.... open to suggestions!

Ya I mean it seems to be good practice and makes sense. Just wasn’t sure if it is necessary or required.
I figured changing them was a quick drive way job but lapping seems as if it would be a lot tougher.
Paddle board sounds like a fun way to change one hahaha.
