I would imagine that removing the baffle would increase exhaust flow and likely increase decibel level....

I always was along the line of thought that not only was FAE better for rider health, it also quiets the boat down.
I straight piped my Moomba with an FAE, it is very reasonable in tone. I would even say quiet, love it.
