Lake Whitney in Central TX
Heading down there on Friday morning to spend 4 or 5 days with some friends and have never been on the lake before. Any good places to find smooth water, party cover, any recommendations, places to stay away from?

I was going to ask if anybody had been out there and what the water level was like north of the lake in the river. I have never been. Been hard to find some good water lately!

It shows 97.3% full right now according to Corp of Engineers.
But like I said I have never been on the water, I know it is like the 3rd largest lake in the state of Texas.
Hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction and where to go. I reserved a slip at the marina so we will be starting out there every morning.2018 Supra SL550 with 850lbs of lead wake

Ready when you are, that water was brutal yesterday.
Try and make your way up the Brazos, that's going to be your best water, also find an app like I-boating to help you navigate. I've only been a handful of times but even in 25mph+ it was still good water.Last edited by wario; 06-27-2017 at 12:04 AM.

As previously mentioned going up the Brazos in the Hamm creek area is going to be your best bet. But it's going to be a long trip up there depending on which marina you are starting off from. There are good windblocks on the lake but more than likely you will end up fighting rollers from other boats on a holiday weekend unless you get out there at dawn.

Heard there were some good restaurants on the water and also some good beaches. Anyone know where?

We are staying at the White Bluff Resort and have a slip rented at the resort marina, not the Lake Whitney Marina that is much further south. I haven't pulled it up yet on my Navionics app to see how far it is to the brazzo.
Would love to know the good restaurants and beaches on the lake/river as well.2018 Supra SL550 with 850lbs of lead wake

You're not too far away from getting into nice water then. North of hwy 174 bridge is where you want to be.
