We were running our boat, I shut it off for someone to get in the water. Tried to start the boat and it just clicks. We recently replaced gasket on thermostat and a hole (custom cut gasket) was not cut. Seems like battery has enough power. Replaced gasket with properly cut holes and it still won't start. Thinking we overheated it? Any other thoughts?

After waiting over an hour the boat started fine, a little nervous to take it out and get stranded again.

Sounds like vapor lock, pour cold water on fuel pump, try not to get wires soaked.

The gasket that was wrong basically prevent any flow of water outside of the thermometer. Is there some kind of safety cutoff or something that detected that no water was flowing? I don't think the temperature got above 140. We replaced the gasket once we got our tow back to the dock, but the boat refused to start for about an hour. Since then, we haven't had a problem.

Where's the click coming from? You could have a bad starter solenoid.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?
