Cheap Lake Water Thermometer
I've used the same thermometer for years to measure the water temperature. Silicone a nut around the sensor to weight it down in the water and drop the sensor over the side. In about 15 seconds you have an accurate reading to whatever depth you drop it down to. It will also measure the air temperature wherever it is sitting.

I've used the one on the perfect pass, but I sometimes question it's accuracy. if anything, it's a reference.
buddy uses in the point-shoot gun, but I believe all it's pulling is the surface temp that can be affected by the sun shining on the spot you are pointing at. he seems pretty convinced it's spot on, but I see it more as a fun toy
that's quite nice and the price is right.'06 Supra Launch 20SSV-gone but never forgotten

Funny Zabooda- I have basically the same thing going on 3 or 4 years now. I'll let it sink down a few feet sometimes to see how warm the water really is since we usually don't swim on the top couple inches.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

I use the cheapo fish tank thermometer's. You can get them on Ebay for a couple bucks. Takes forever to show up from Hong Kong but the price it right. I have a few because i inevitably forget it's hanging off the side and drive off without pulling it back up

I always tell the kids it's 5 degrees warmer than it actually says so they'll get in faster.

Boonjeepin has yall beat.
I went with him and stuck my hand in the water, i said ehh low 60s i think.
He hands me the .99 oven temp probe and it said 64 LOL. I think it was reading a little warm but the next week my boat said 64 after an additional week of sun. LOLMalo <--- Means--Evil or Mean One. This explains a lot.
