Fishing poles?

We really need to know the average size and kind of fish you expect to catch off your dock. You can get a set-up that may work better bassed on that info.
for example, lake trout, smallmouth, perch, smaller catfish, etc I'd go with ultralight gear.
Walley, larger cats, largemouth, etc maybe go with a little heavier gear.
The 303 will probably be your best bet and help you get an idea of where to go next.

I have only caught bluegill and rockbass on our lakes. It is fairly shallow even further out from our dock.

For basic off the dock fishing the zebco combos mentioned before are rock solid. Basic, easy to use, durable, effective and resonably priced
