Default Leaky weld catalytic converter 2018 mojo

I have developed a leak on starboard side catalytic converter. It’s the weld above the o2 sensor. I’m sourcing a new one. My dealer wants $2100. Online but oops they are 1200-1600$. Can I pull the bad cat and patch it with jb weld to get me through the summer? If I do pull it do I need a new gasket or can I use the one it was is talked with? I have a welding friend who has offered to fix it, is that an option?IMG_6603.jpg

I'm not an expert by any means but I heard of people using JB Weld with good results to get you buy for a while. If you do go that route I would probably try and scrape off the paint and scuff up the metal before applying. If you have someone who can weld I would definitely go that route for a permenant fix and replace the gasket at the same time. Just my .02
