Default supra SL and SE vs Moomba makai

    hey guys,

just wondering if anyone has had the chance to wakeboard and wake surf behind a newer Supra SL or SE, i have my deposit in on the Makai and really excited, but keep looking over at the supra and wondering if it might be worth the extra Money?

If you can comfortably afford a new Supra and are good spending the extra money it will not disappoint...might as well get the boat you want right off the rip. Moomba wave is going to be good but it won't be as good as the SL or SE wave. All of them will require additional weight to really reach their full wave potential, but Supra will be cleaner with more push from the back to the front of the wave. Supra bells and whistles are obviously way ahead of the Moomba features but you pay for it.

I second this. If cost is not the issue, the comfort and features of the SL and SE, plus the great wave are worth it.

The Supras are posh if you can swing it.

Like others have said if you can swing it why not?

The Supra will be a heavier boat and will naturally make a better wave than the Moomba stock for stock. That doesn’t mean the Moomba can’t throw a great wave as they certainly can but it takes more weight than what you would need to add to a Supra and as mentioned it won’t be quite the level of a Supra wave.

Visiting Skier’s today, the extra Supra weight is primarily the FXone tower and extra options.

The Supras do look to have a little more freeboard and therefore a bit more fiberglass.

Nice, Kent, enjoy (definitely don't snag spy pics if they don't confiscate your phone! Subtract first double negative)

I know folks have done the tour with fam but those that have....what was it like. Was everyone disengaged but you??

I was thinking of doing a bro trip when mine is coming down the line because at least I know my dudes would be interested in seeing the process.

Any family SC tour takers with input??

Well my wife was the one who called yesterday morning to see if SC could squeeze us in, so she wanted to go more than me.

My 18 yo son thought it was cool and had plenty of questions, he really enjoyed it.

I am in automotive so I have been in nearly every OEM assy plant in North America and many in Europe and Asia, so I was not as motivated.

My inlaws were with us and they were engaged and in awe of the process.

I really enjoyed it, the most impressive thing is the quality controls. It was a smaller factory than I envisioned, but it gives it a more “hand built” process feel. Not one robot in the plant.

The R&D building is separate and that is where I wanted to go LOL, but off limits of course. They are working on the 23’s.

22’s are ready and will start July 5th.

I would say everyone who enjoys the boat you own would enjoy the tour experience and find something that would impress them.

Toured with my wife a few years back. She was not overly thrilled when Drew Tinker was explaining their continuous improvement process but I have worked in manufacturing for 35 years so I could relate. As we started through the plant following the process from interior to molds to final rigging she got into it and really enjoyed it. She even picked out a new Supra coming off the line that she really liked! Drew was a great host but I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any free swag. Drew said it all goes to the dealers. Left Maryville and drove the Tail of The Dragon to Bryson City stopping at Fontana Dam on the way.
