Have a feeling that's going to trap dirt, lint, seaweed, be a mess to clean.. It's miners moss, that's designed to catch stuff. Looks nice.

The martial will trap the dirt, chips, ect... But, it is designed to release anything in the material with a strong water flow. Only a trial run will tell.
I have rubbed dirt, clay, and potato chips into a sample and it all washes out easily.
The mat is just drop in so I can pull it out of the boat and wash with a hose on the driveway. It would be very hard to clean if the mat was not removable.

I will be following your updates next season, but it sounds like a great idea.....relatively low cost, easy installation (assuming no carpet removal) and it looks great.
The carpet in my '13 is only 1.5 seasons old and it already looks like crap so I will probably be looking for an alternative sooner rather than later.

Sure, but doesn't carpet trap all of this too? The benefit is that you could hose this stuff clean and it won't stain.
We rode in a new Tige this summer that had the deckadence flooring (link). It was a little bit "tickly" on the feet but not scratchy and overall it is more spongy so it's softer to stand on. I was so impressed with it that I started searching and found out it ain't cheap. Also, I think they decided to only sell OEM. To my eyes this looks to be about the same stuff. For $100 I'm in. Good find.

Looks good. I would definitely remove your carpet though or all the dirt and grime will soak through and sit on it. Would expect moisture to stay as well so will get pretty nasty. I know Decadence cuts their edges at an angle around the boarder so it fits snug against the sides and not quite sure of the thickness of the miners moss vs. decadence but the price certainly has a variance.
Would imagine sending the template to decadence for a mat would be 10x the price although you can get custom colors, logos, and designs built in from them.
Description of DMF from their website " a combination of aerated rubber, resins, PVC treated with UV inhibitors and a secret recipe that contributes to the durability and longevity of product". Who knows, maybe its the same stuff as miners moss?
For me it's a no brainer and only way to go on my next boat. Carpet looks like crap after 6months, seadek or similar is permanent, is prone to chips and wear and will trap dirt around edges, decadence is expensive but can remove for cleaning, soft, everything flows through it and you can rinse off the bare floor. Expensive or not, substitute or not, I'm doing the toss in weave/sponge floor next go round.

Why Not? Play Hard! Get wet![]()
I believe Deckadence is 14 mm w the rubberized anti slip stuff adhered to the bottom.
The miners moss I used is 10mm. If one wanted to add the rubber anti slip material it should be easy to add with a light coat of aerosol 3m adhesive on the bottom of the miners moss or directly on the rubber anti slip material. Would certainly want to keep the adhesive light enough to not close off the open weave which would then trap the water.
I'll keep everyone posted. I am in SoCal so I will be taking the boat out again soon.

Make sure to have your girls drop a few popsicles, spill a can of soda, sprinkle with plenty of chips and cookie crumbs, and then let sit in the sun for a few hours.
So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?
