Default Trailering with tower down Makai

Has anyone trailered their boat with the tower down? I know you cant put the cover on with the tower folded but wanted to pull it to the lake with the tower down so I don't get bugs on the upper part of the tower and speakers.

Don't do it. My dealer did it my first month and had to replace the plastic around the throttle area. The Bimini arm will hit that plastic piece in transit. Get speaker covers if it's critical.

Thanks for the response. I was afraid that something like that would happen. I will deal with scrubbing the bugs off the tower.

X2 on wrapping it, you can find the huge rolls of ‘packing wrap’ at Home Depot, or similar places

I have speaker covers for the rev 10s. Easy. The rest of my tower rarely has bug splats or anything when I get to the lake.

Just be happy Moomba is still smart and has a smooth powder coated finish, why some of the other brands (Malibu, Axis and a few others) when to a bedliner texture is beyond me. You'd have to power wash the bugs off the tower each time with a rough finish.

Funny you mention that, there are even portions of the SUpra towers that have that rough finish….. I do appreciate the smooth thats for sure !!

Never have bugs on my fx1 tower, folded down the Bimini protects it and long trips the over tower cover is awesome.

This among other things is what turned us off of some of the other brands before we swapped to Moomba. Its the little things that make a big difference.
