Default 2006 Moomba Outback V Gravity III - how does this price look to you guys?

    Hi guys,

First time newbie here. Looking to buy my first wake boat, and this 2006 Outback V seems to fit the bill for our needs.

What do you all think about the pricing for this guy? My main concern is the 100 hours on a 2006.

    Thanks in advance.

Treat the 100 hours as a hazard not a positive. Offer a price that can cover you having coolant and fuel lines replaced, impeller replaced fluids serviced etc. I would rather buy a higher hour boat with good service records than a low hour boat. People with low hour boats always think they command a premium and that they have some rare boat. It just means they didnt get to have as much fun if you ask me.

i'm with mx. I got ahold of my g'pas old 77 ford f150 at 75000 miles back in 2005(had 4k in the prior 10 years up to me getting it) and I spent a grand in the first 4 months replacing belts/hoses and the such from lack of use. it'll be similar with that boat and judging by the tears in the back sundeck and fading on the boat/trailer it's been stored outside for part of it's life so I'd bet money it'll have some rubber rot in the engine bay.
personally I wouldn't pay more than mid20's for it as it's likely needing a lot of stuff replaced and it's a outback v, not what most want in today's surf-centric world. it'll surf but back in '06 there are boats that were MUCH better at it. my supra was a very similar hull and we never looked back when we moved to a slightly larger and deeper boat..

that outback will slalom and wakeboard like crazy tho......

A boat that was housed in Granite Bay with that low of hours, and on a 2nd owner, was neglected. Even if it was garaged, it was neglected.

Wouldn’t offer over $20k. Ask for a marine survey by a surveyor of your own choosing. $500 is better than throwing endless amounts at a $20k pit.

Thanks guys. You confirmed my suspicions.

Given that our budget is this price point, what boats/models would you recommend from this time period that would serve a family looking to get into surfing?

Amendment: I’m still convinced an outback v could provide what we’re looking for (I’ve seen enough online to convince me that we could create a wave that works for us). So other than an appropriately priced outback v with proof of upkeep.

I loved my outback and was able to get an Awesome wave out of it.

The hours seem suspicious, but only looking at it in person can verify.

That being said, I personally wouldn’t be as nervous about the hours as others because I could evaluate the condition myself easily. May depend on your ability to properly inspect everything…take it for a nice test ride, check everything for function..cooling system, etc.

We had a 04 Mobius which I believe is the hull- this is the boat we learned to surf with just 750 lbs in the rear locker.

Thank you all once again for the helpful input. Here is a short running video of the engine:

Swim deck beat up, but that can be fixed- looks like someone back the boat/trailer into something.

Oil pressure and temp look good. Clearly the boat was always kept indoors.

I wouldn’t exclude this boat - it’s worth a closer look and test drive. Too bad your not in WI I’d come with you to inspect.

Maybe there is another forum member in your area who knows these boat .
