Default Is there a guide on replacing the impeller on Raptor 400?

My dealer is wanting to charge me a couple hundred bucks to replace the impeller this spring when I have the boat summerized. Figured now that my 2-year free dealer maintenance incentive is coming to an end I need to start wrenching on the boat myself to save some cash. Just looking for some tips on what all is involved and what part #’s I need to order. TIA

Edit- I may have put this I the wrong forum section. Please feel free to move to the service section.

    This is the impeller kit.

    REPLACEMENTKITS.COM - Water Pump Impeller Kit Replaces 09-812B-1 Johnson F6B-9 102480501 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073PGLJRK...ing=UTF8&psc=1

Not sure on how easy the pump cover access is in the max, it is very easy on Supra’s through the surf locker engine cover.

4 bolts, needle nose pliers to wiggle the old one off the shaft, use grease supplied or WD40 to install and use new gasket.

    Two beers and 30 min.

I could easily turn that into 6 hrs, 2 broken tools, one lost bolt, and 3 trips to the auto parts store, and a 1/2 bottle of bourbon and a wellness check from law enforcement.

Buy a $50 impeller puller, makes the job so much easier, about 10 minutes, but take 3 beers so it lasts longer, lol

    Ha, love it!!!

But seriously, depending on the boat access, it’s a 1.5 on a 10 scale.

Thanks guys for the info. I haven’t removed my side panels on my Max in quite a while but hopefully there is plenty of room to work.

Access for me in the mojo is pretty easy from the port ballast locker with panel removed. Just make sure you don’t drop your small screws that hold the cover on and an impeller puller is probably worth it.

You can bump the engine a few times during to help get it out.

I agree, impeller puller and it's a 10 to 15 minute easy job. I've done it 4 times already. Dealer wants to do it for $200. I did it in 15 minutes for $45 and i didn't have to tow it in.

If you don't get the puller, take the faceplate off, smoother some dish soap on it, and then bump it over once. Worked for me and was posted on here a few years back.
