Business Trip to Portland in May
I saw another Portland thread I didn't want to hi-jack, so I started my own I'm coming to Portland, OR, for some training.
I'll be flying in May 13th, having that evening and all day Monday the 14th to do whatever I want.
I'll also have friday afternoon (May 18th), and all day Sat. (19th) to do whatever I want. I'll have a rental car the whole time too.
I've never been west of KS, so I'm wanting to do some good sightseeing, and would love to meet any of y'all that are around that area. I definitely want to make it to the coast area on day or afternoon.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Hey Ryan - I'll give you some ideas and plan to meet up with you for a beer!
Depending on the site seeing you want to do there's a lot of options:
Mt. St. Helens volcano (a few hours north of Portland)
Multnomah Falls (east of Portland a half hour or so)
Downtown Portland waterfront
OMSI - Oregon Museum of Science & Industry - they rotate a lot of different cool exhibits.
Lots of micro breweries scattered all over
Portland Spirit river cruise - booze/food and a tour up the river on a big cruiser.
Willamette River jetboat tours - exactly what it sounds like. Departs from downtown Portland near OMSI.
Mt Hood - Timblerline lodge is probably the best bet in May. An hour or so away from downtown.
Active Water Sports - biggest Moomba/Supra/Malibu/Ski Nautique/Axis, etc. dealer around in our area. (Oregon City - south of Portland)
Uh, I'm sure I'm missing lots of things.
At the coast Seaside is a popular spot. Lots of arcades, shops, rides, and the historic statue at the turnaround that marks the end of Lewis & Clark's expedition west. Down further south around Newport and Lincoln City there is some whale watching along with the typical beach stuff. Also a few different casinos.
I'd suggest hitting the water but who knows with the weather and I'm typically not dewinterized by then.So when is this "old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

I tend to hit the lake on Mondays if the weather is decent ill be able to get you on the water depending on your plans man. If Boone is available that monday and the weather holds we can all meet up and hit the water.
