Oh I might try the rub rail. Mine looks bad.

Someone on Wakeworld dipped their entire tower orange.
Dipped my tower cans from black to white tonight. Still letting it setup and will clean up the bracket later today. Will see how it holds up. I dipped all the emblems on my new truck back in August and it still looks as good as the day I did it.Attachment 17397

Pictures of truck emblems and also plasti dipped my homemade radio set up for my Polaris ranger. It has held up great.

Read that thread yesterday, at the very end he came back after a few months and said the orange faded out terribly and he was going to have to redo it. But he also said his boat sits out uncovered in the sun...
Doesn't sound like / seem like the fading would happen with black or white.
i did my tower..so far so good
I'm just waiting for Mike to put the white pasti-dip stripe on his truck to match the mojo!
Decided to try the plasti-dip this weekend and I have come to the conclusion that this stuff is awesome! I tried it on my mower first just so I could get used to it and see how it worked then moved to the Nissan. Next going to to the metal around the windshield. Pretty cool stuff!

next on my list is to do the chrome x on my exile speakers white, and the window trim black
How is the plastidip holding up on the MOOMBA letters. Has it started to come off. Water is way more abusive than air, I would assume it would not last like it would on a car. Let me know
It holds up great in the water, no issues, i did let it cure for a couple weeks before i was brave enough to start wiping it down when i clean the boat. I am still careful of the corners. So fare using my bumpers at the dock has been fine as well.
The letters dont stand up to direct contact with a dock LOL.

Those look great! Did you say you did your tower?
i did my tower..but i have to do a few more coats, and i just started to tape off my window trim to do that black to help out with the black tower
the other thing about plastidip ( that i noticed ) is, its not kinda like your regular paint..if you get " to close " it will still dry up and look smooth..my buddy did his rim in black and we just went to town on it and when it was wet it looked a little crappy but when it dried it looked smooth and done like a pro haha
Plastidip'd my anchor and sand spike this weekend. Just bouncing around in the back of my truck the anchor has a chip or two. Did it mostly to rust proof it and avoid further stains on the carpet in the storage cubby.
After inspecting the guide bunk pads on the trailer and how they are literally cut in half from coming in at angles and bouncing off them led me to the decision that I will NOT be doing plastidip on the rub rail. Way too easy to peel it off from a little trailer guide bunk lovin or dock lovin. Hell even the ropes on the bumpers from tying off will probably dig into it too easily and I don't want to be in constant touch up mode...
Have you seen this stuff yet???

Has anyone used plasti dip on their rope handle? I have a couple handles where the foam has ripped off and was wondering about plasti dipping them. Good idea or not?
I need that to keep the sweat off my * * * * . Nevermind.

I've used gator grip on a lot of my boat but I would think it's too thick for a handle. Tennis or golf club wrap is better.
Stay awesome!
Duct tape, baby.
I've used plasti dip on many things! It's great stuff! I am actually contemplating dipping my truck since I don't like the color. A guy on Tundra Solutions did it recently and it looked good.
I have my grill and bumpers done in plasti dip and I did my badges as well but I debadged my Tundra. There's endless possibilities for it. I am actually going to be doing my trailer rims in the fall black.
I plasti dipped my speaker cans white. It couldn't handle the bugs when trailering at night. I just went and had them powder coated for $60. My sisterinlaw made bags to put on them when I tow. They have draw strings with the slide that keeps them tight. Used them today for a 1 1/2 hour trip and the worked perfect.Attachment 18367Attachment 18368
Your sis in law has the job. I need a set. Get the machine out. Glad to see you on here. Where you been all summer?
They worked great. Have her making me some more for my racks, mirror and light bar. Right now I pull all of that stuff off or it will be covered in bugs by the time u get to the lake since we usually go down on Friday nights. Have only made it out in the water 4-5 weekends this year. Wife if preg with our second child. Due Oct 24 so been busy getting things done around the house. Next year we will be back at it.
Congrats! Went through a few of those years myself but priceless memories are on the way. Looking forward to seeing pics.
Bumping this old thread. Thanks for the inspiration just did my cup holders in black. 8 out of the 11 look mint. The other 3 look blobish on top. Think my prep wasn't perfect. Either way looks wicked. Will post pic in the sun tomorrow.
Was going to plasti some trim on momma's ride. How long do you let it cure before you peel off the overspray? Going to search some youtube vids but saw the thread revival and thought I'd ask since you did your boat logo Mike.
Thanks!
I generally wait about 1 hour, in 20 minutes the plasti should have a dull color so its dry to the touch and you can start peeling, but I like to wait about an hour to let it cure a bit more. If you wait too long the over spray starts getting hard to remove.
I like to put 3-5 thin coats, each coat I let dry till its dull in color.
I like to use rubbing alcohol to clean the over spray if it doesn't come off all the way.
Also I still tape it off to keep the over-spray controlled but I do let it over spray as the instruction say.
