Matt Brown,
What are the engine/tranny options for the 2019 Supra line?

400 standard on SR, SA, SL
New 450 standard on SE and optional on all others.
575 optional on SA, SL, SE.
1.5 ratio on all.

So the Moomba gets the 1.76 ratio tranny with the 450, but not Supra. WTH are they thinking?
Moomba >Supra lol

No way, they need to give the 450 a new tranny. If I had to look at a 19 I would only consider it if they had ditched the 1.5
Could you swap out the tranny for a 1.76 ? If I could do it for a few grand I would.
But....
I think its more about the size of prop that you would then use with said gear ratio.
I think we all know and realize that the angle would not be correlated with any internal gear ratio.
But if you reduce the ratio, youre gonna want to take advantage of its benefits by ramping up the prop diameter, and that has challenges when it comes to a thrust vector and a forward moving boat coupled with adequate hull clearance.
Again, all heresay. But I like the belligerent BS call! Makes others feel good. 🤣

Yes. With Mastercraft now running a 20 prop on the X-star, then that requires a steeper Driveline angle to for more hull clearance, unless they change the hull design instead.
The other thing is that with lower ratios and bigger props with more pitch (as a consequence) the torque on the Propshafts has seen a major jump, with boats moving towards a 1-1/4 shaft instead of the regular 1-1/8 shaft. This increase in diameter although not trivial, is also questionable whether it is sufficient as there are numerous reports of people shearing the shaft right off with these higher ratio setups.

[QUOTE=Stazi;330090] there are numerous reports of people shearing the shaft right off with these higher ratio setups.
Just hop over to Planet Nautique if you want to read about props shearing clean off of G23s...
Guess there's no convincing you...
No they don't! LMAO
:-)
No offense to your boat, but I've said it before, I don't like Poop colored interiors, so dark blacks and grays are legit! And blue/black metalflake exterior with blue/black/slate interior is gonna look amazeballs. My Audi is black on black and I love it. Nothing wrong with a murdered out interior if it can not burn ya!
for those hoping for the 1.76:1 or 2:1 tranny be careful what you wish for last year with the Malibu 23LSV I had the 400 raptor/1.76:1 combination and the 2279 prop well I ordered the same prop for my SL not knowing that it would have a different ratio. Boat didn't plane as soon as half of the ballast was filled
So obviously a mistake and went to the 2775 (wake prop) which works great. But what is equally important is the RPM now I'm running at 3400 - 3500 when surfing at 11.2. With the Malibu I ran at 3700 - 3800 and with more than 4 people more in the ball park of 4000 anything above 3500 will make the raptor considerably louder
One more thing I heard this year from multiple people on the lake they can't believe how quiet the boat is - you can't hear it nobody told me that last year and both boats were equipped with the fresh air exhaust
So different tranny = higher RPM = more noise and if you really want to know how much here you can get a taste themalibucrew forum discussing 2019 changes there - and read the comments below that video

2019s are hitting dealers!

The Makai with the new reduction is dynamite. Full ballast and 5 people and it laughed at the weight that was in it. By laugh I mean purred to surf speed, and then sat there sipping fuel at a cozy 3100RPM. Boat is unreal, plain and simple. I know Garcia did a writeup about how it prob isnt as good as an SL, I dont find that to be the case. I think being bigger it wants much more weight. Based on what I saw and felt at my feet, thing is as clean and has every bit of potential as the SL, without swell maybe it does not switch as clean, hard to say. But setup on one side? Would be shocked if it does not surpass the SL simply because its bigger.... I was throughly impressed.
I will tell you this, the boat is sooooo quiet... Prob the quietest boat I have been in during the last few years. 40MPH top, 3000-3100 surf RPM. Yes please.
I think their is still performance left on the table. Factory wheel is a 15.5x15.25, based on the juice it had down low its got room for something a smidge taller. When its all said and done in factory form, I bet this is a sub 3k RPM surf system boat. Let that sink in......
Just stick with leaf spring suspension and the Boatmate trailers are fine

I currently own an older xstar and got a new trailer a few years ago so it wouldn't be as tall on the trailer and the wheel rubs the inside of the fender and have had a ton of issues with the hub. I have read online no matter the brand and everyone pretty much agrees stock is the best.
Incorrect. They are made by boatmate too
