Use of Ethonal in Indmar Engines
Looking over information from Indmar on the web, I see they will allow 10 percent ethonal in fuel, however the Moomba owners manual states not to ever use ethanol. Anyone have any good info as to why ethanol is not to be used per Moomba and Indmar is advising that it can be used?? I can only guess it has something to do with the fuel lines or tank.

Good Question you have stumped the mkt guru not hard to do. Give me some time to figure it out for sure. I know in some areas all the fuel is blended. In general just use the lowest percentage of ethanol you can find. I will have an answer. Jay Warren

This probably isn't the right reason, but.... I ride sportbikes and everyone says never to run ethanol in them either. The reason I recall hearing is that it will make them run hotter.

Went to Iowa recently and their making a state law that requires all fuels sold in the state to be at least 10% ethanol. So for some, you better get used to it.

Has this question been resolved yet??? Were I am from in North Dakota, in a new effort to make people start using ethanol, they have made the 89 octane with 10% ethanol cheaper then the 87 w/o ethanol. I did a topic search and found this old post, but no answer to Will Watters question. It would save me a lot of green at the pump, so if anyone knows yet, please fill me in. Thanks

I'd go with the engine manufactorers recommendation. In this case 10% ethanol is OK. But then I ran 87 octane in my carburated PCM last year and had no problems where they recommend 89 octane.

You must be careful, though. Using other than recommended may affect your warranty. However, if your warranty is expired, it prolly isn't a concern.

I guess I am out of luck in CT. All gas has ethanol. According to my dealer I don't need to worry aobut it though. I hope that means that he will back me on any warranty issues due to ethanol.
