Hey guys, I know a few of you have installed wakemakers bow ballast upgrade in your Maxes. I just piggybacked mine to the center tank and have not had a good result. Time setting is maxed out on the fill, but the system keeps jumping to 100% prematurely and attempting to vent. Can't make aense of it. Any ideas? Vnet from ce ter tank is to the fill on bow ballast. Top plug is the vent connect where the previous center bag vented.

Not sure how yours was originally setup but mine had 2 vents coming from center bag. Make sure both vents go to bow bag. I would guess you only have 1 vent line going to the new bag and the other vent line is triggering the sensor.

The jump to 100% happens to mine as well when filling the rear Wakemakers bags. I have to go into setting and manually reset the ballast level to say empty again. It’s a bit of an annoyance for sure. I’m hoping this gets resolved with adding a vent to the midship bag. Hopefully you get it resolved.
Interesting. I assumed the vent line that comes through the starboard removable floor panel was the vent line for the rear bags. So you are saying the two vent lines that vent in front of the driver are both fpr the center bag? Just want to make sure...thank youQuote:

Yes, that is correct. If you follow the line it goes to the back of the center bag.
If you open up your center hatch where the center plug is you will notice 3 lines going to the bag. 1 for each pump and 1 for the 2nd vent line.
Just run that 2nd vent hose from the center bag to another fill port on your bow bag and you should be good to go.
So you should have 2 hoses going from center bag to bow bag.
I dont think you need 2 vent hoses so you can probably just leave the one you already have it. Just make sure that sensor is on the correct on if you want to use it.

Does your ballast gauge still jump to 100% mid fill or so? I would love to know why mine does that and a way to fix it alleviate it.
You said it is the rear bags that are doing it? Is the vent line coming from the top of the bag? Sounds like water is hitting the sensor before filling up all the way.Quote:

One quick test is to just unplug the sensor and fill it up. That way you can at least narrow it down to the sensor or something else.
My guess would be your sensor is lower then the top of the bag when full which would trigger it.
Is it doing it to both rear bags or just one side?

I have a 2019 so the vent is at the bottom for the rear bags. Neither of the midship or rear bags are full yet and the ballast gauge will just randomly jump to 100%. I don't have an additional overflow on the midship bags either but plan to at some point when I'm not being lazy lol. My fill times can be 15-17 minutes, sometimes longer if I have to reset the ballast levels and then toggle the switches again. I have G6 ballast so it seems like 15 minutes is much longer fill times than it should be for adding an additional 880 lbs per twin ballast pumps. I think stock fill was 5-6 minutes for the 1,000 lb stock rear bag. My drain times for the rear are 12 minutes and they get completely drained but filling is taking much longer.Quote:

Those fill times are pretty long. If you remove the back panel in the lockers you will see the pumps and the sensor there.Quote:

If you have not removed the rear panel before there are 2 screws at the top that are obvious and 2 small black screws at the very bottom.
The panel sits on a little channel that you have to push up before pulling it out.
I would turn the pumps on and make sure both are running and inspect the impeller while you have everything open.
Then make sure the sensor is higher than the top of the bag when full. I just put it at the very top.

Yes I it all makes sense and I will look into it all next time on the boat. I’ve removed that panel before last year when my port side ballast relay module shorted out.
Can someone post a picture of this sensor and what is meant by moving it up? How do you "move it up"? Are you cutting some of the tubing and moving it closer to the thru hull fitting and in turn above the larger bag or are you just physically relocating it? I am getting ready to add new rear bags to my Makai and have heard that you have to move the sensors up and since I have never opened the panel up before I am not sure what that means.Quote:

When saying moving it higher, literally moving it to a location on the hose that is higher than the top of your bag when full.
I think it will make sense when you open up that back compartment up and see it but will see if I can get some pics.

On the Max, the easiest one to see for reference, is the front one. Its on the hose right beside the free air sub.

The one benefit of running the vent from the top of the bag is it less likely to get air trapped in there. Moomba has the vent caps which probably work fine but since I was already running a vent on the mid ship bag, I just tied the rear bag into it.
If you do run the vent from the top just make sure to strap and position your hose where it doesnt get squeezed between the bag and side of the boat when filling.
The bags are so tall it is easy for the hose to get pinched as it is filling up and pop off the connector. It kept on happening to me until I rerouted it.
I would imagine this is one of the reasons Moomba ran it from the back of the bag and lower.

Looks very similar the only thing difference looks like the rigid pipe. It appears the sensor is the same, you would just move it right above that connector piece from the rigid pipe to the clear hose.
But I could be wrong on that, it is hard to tell from that picture.

Ya the pictures aren’t that great. It might all be one piece as this guy added tubing to the end of the pipe where it connects to the bag to raise the sensor up. This is the original height

Does anyone know the correct Tube & Fitting size used on our boats? (I have G6 Ballast not sure if it matters) Is it 3/4", 1" or 1-1/8"?
Mine on the 2019 max was 1". Any new hose I put in I used 1-1/8" and just did a reducer to the stock hose.
But to keep things easy, you just may use 1" everywhere.

Its the smallest 1" youve ever encountered. The male connections must be 1-1/16" lol. Use a heat gun, or blow dryer before you contemplate setting the boat on fire.

100% use a crap ton of heat for the 1-1/16”. And yes they are 1” and would’ve used 1” but wakemakers was out for over a month it seems.Quote:
