Autoflow 2.0 vs. WaveControl (aka GoSurfAssist)

So, the two frontrunners for surf systems (for me) right now are the Wave Control that Wakemakers is selling (formerly GoSurfAssist).

Wave Control is now the OEM system for the MB Sports boats.

Most of us should be familiar with the Autoflow 2.0 as it's the OEM system that's on the Moomba boats. Wakeland Mfg made the Flow, Autoflow, and Autoflow 2.0 for Moomba and is also making retrofits for a handful of models. Wakeland Mfg told me that they're going to be putting out an Autoflow system for the XLV in April... They wouldn't give me pricing or anything else on it. But they did say April.

I did have the Super Sac'R surf system that's on the Bryant boats in the running (I saw them at the boat show), but they are only going to sell to dealers and having that dealer markup and possibly a dealer required install is a deal breaker for me. So for me, it's WaveControl vs. Autoflow vs. build one myself...

So, I'm VERY interested in comparing and contrasting the WaveControl/GoSurfAssist vs. the Autoflow 2.0

I figure it's worth a separate thread instead of hijacking existing threads... Please add your thoughts and discussion here!

I think that the Wakeland Autoflow controller looks pretty slick and has GPS and transfer buttons. I would be happy with it.

Good call on seperate thread. From what I'm seeing ...

Wakemakers (gosurfassist) looks like a more robust system than the Wakeland. Mostly in size of tabs.

It seems like the costs quoted are about the same on Wakemakers vs Wakeland. I was told approx 4k on an aftermarket install with the Wakeland. They claimed to have inflated hours in that cost and once they had the process fine tuned, they expect it to be a little cheaper.

I'm not sure either are worth comparing to Flow2.0 since it's a factory option? Is it confirmed that Flow1.0 can be upgraded to Flow2.0?

Was that $4k INSTALLED or just for the system with YOU installing it?

Look at Wakeland's website. Wakeland IS Autoflow. They make it for Moomba.

Yes, I understand it's the same manufacturer. I just didn't see them as comparable customers as the Flow is factory and opinions on it will be based on the new hulls, not the hulls they are trying to retrofit the non OEM flow to.

From pics ... I think the Wakemakers system looks more like Flow2.0 because of the larger tabs. Surely there is an improvement between Flow1.0 and Flow2.0. At same price, I'd lean Wakemakers, based on what I've only seen.

It might just come down to that. "at the same price".

Yeah, you're right the WaveControl's tabs are meaty and have that second flap that's adjustable. And they have the side-to-Side remote control. beyond that, they're pretty darn similar.

I look forward to finding out what kind of pricing Wakeland is going to put out on a retrofit system. They told me that they'll be having an XLV system in April and wouldn't give me ANY pricing info.

We all know that the Wakemakers WaveControl is listed at $5k (uninstalled) and that they had it on sale for $4k for Black Friday. That's still REALLY expensive IMO. I think that the price point for a surf system should more more around $2k to $3k. It's just a painful markup when they're $4k to $5k. BooneJeepin built his own with the Lenco LED controller and he's into his for under $1k.

for what I understood from them and my SC rep it should be around 4k installed from wake land mfg but it will have to be installed by an sc dealer, the trick for the xlv is the cut out in the rear of the hull and the mounting bracket for the actuators.

That said, if BooneJeepin was able to do it with his XLV, I'm sure that Wakeland should be able to make a actuator bracket...


Obviously $4k INSTALLED for a Wakeland would be a LOT better than $4k uninstalled for a 20% off sale on the WaveControl. And I think the "bonus" of having a side to side switching remote control isn't a big enough feature to make a difference in swaying the decision from Wakeland to Wakemakers.

I was also told the 4k figure and I THINK they were allocating approx 5 hours but may be less in the future

If does sound like the wakeland will come in cheaper.

So from what I can tell my new 2013 SA has the wake land system on it. I will not be able to test until April. Dealer installed and said total was 4 to 5k. I am sure that is retail as they were wanting to get as much for the boat as possible.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm not looking to pull the trigger anytime soon. I have plenty of mods to do to my boat that can keep me happy. And it's not like I have a few grand burning a hole in my pocket either! But it's always good to do the research up front.

I got a quote from the Moomba dealer in the Ozarks for the wakeland system. Less than $4k installed. Planning on having them put it on my '13 mojo before this season. Still waiting to confirm they'll ship the system to the dealer with the 2.0 blades.

Btw, I was sold on the Wakeland system since it wouldn't void my hull warranty.

I spoke to wakemakers, they are back ordered 6 to 8 weeks but should have plenty of inventory come April/may

I spoke to Trayson about this already but I will share my concerns for others to think about in this position.

I inquired 3x to Wake Land for info on their system for the Mojo. No one ever returns my emails to them. It doesn't sit will when I can't contact someone like that.

I have been in contact with Wake Makers on this for the last year, trying to decide if I wanted to pull the trigger.

I finally have decided to pull the trigger and went with Wake Makers system. I like the ability to adjust automatically and still has extra manual adjustment to really dial it in. Also pricing for both systems is close enough that isn't a concern. Customer service is pretty huge with me and not only have I been working with WM since they started almost they always return my messages.

Speaking with my dealer AWS, they have also installed a few systems and said it is pretty labor intensive, and you much make sure the hull matches 100% level where the system mounts, so they have to make adapters for some boats.

With all this I decided to go with Go Surf Assist system from WM and yes they are back ordered, seems they are getting pretty popular, mine should arrive with in the next month and be installed shortly after that.

Once its all on and I will do my normal write ups, videos, and thoughts on the system. I expect to be on that task by April.

for props on wake makers , they were really good to speak with and sent me a template for the mounts due to the difficultly of the xlv hull, needed to see if it will really fit.., plus I love the channel effect of the extension. still undecided.

Mike if you don't mind me asking or are more comfortable in a PM how much extra is install on top of the price as well as the cost to remove the flow and reglass the hull before install of the surf assist. I'm in a similar boat as you with already having money invested in the flow, and with not much of a sample size yet on surf assist to decide cost vs. reward.

My Go Surf Assist install is 500-600 install.
They are quoting 1500 to remove, repair the gell on the boat. $750 per side basically.

Little more in the repair work then I expected but it is what it is. Quality Glass work isn't cheap.

You've done more research than I have. Interested to hear what you ultimately decide. I for one have been underwhelmed with the ghetto gate on my boat. definitely NOT enough to justify the extra hassle and space required to bring it. (I modeled mine after the surfgate on the Axis).

but something permanent that deploys at the flip of a switch--that I could get behind. Just too spendy for me to pull the trigger on this early in the game.

I would think they'd fit fine. BooneJeepin was certainly able to fit lenco actuators on his XLV for his homebrew surftabs... But I guess it'll all come down to where the wave control tabs have their mounting point for the actuator, as that will determine the steepness of the actuator angle and in turn the place on the hull where the top of the actuator will be mounted.

I guess you'll just have to do yours first and make sure it works well so I'll know if it's worth it!

Why does that sound familiar?

Yea its pricey for the Gell repairs but after the cracks they fixed and the cost of that, I am not surprised and that repair is invisible unless you know the exact location of the repair and look at it from an angle in the shade.

Talked with Tinker today, since SC works with Wake Land it will not void any part of the warranty.

What he said about the Go Surf Assit, it would only void the hull were its mounted, say cracking, leaks from the install. So it won't void your hull warranty, only the stern corners.

Even better! No way my wife's going to let me do it myself and I like the fact it's OEM. Just sucks I have to drag it 3 hours each way to have it done.

I spoke with Tyler at Wakeland yesterday, he confirmed the aftermarket kit came with the 2nd gen kit so I pulled the trigger through Yacht Club Power Sports. Will update early this season once I've had a chance to get it back on the water.

I don't want to be Debby downer but I'm curious. You have aprox. $1500 wrapped up into flow plus $1500 for removal and glass/gel repair plus 5k for the new system. That's 8k. Are you anticipating the auto system will be that much of an improvement over flow?

I personally think it will be that much better, plus I expect to run less weight so I'll be selling my Enzo 1500 bags as well.

Also I want a more automated system.

I think on resale this will help hold a little more value. Not a ton but some.

HAHA Aren't you funny.

I technically one use 1 as it is and its on the Goofy wave, the regular wave is a 900 and I don't fill the goofy all the way up.

Yes I think 3K in the rear will be a little too much and sink the boat too much. I have 900s, plus I have steel shot <400> right now to level the boat.

The 1500s taking up room isn't a real concern, Mojo has tons of it, but it does fill the V drive and under seat storage.

When I am ready to sell the 1500s, I will ping both of you < KG and Dusty >

Sorry Joe, I don't need an XLV, when the time comes I will be buying Supra.

Roll the 6k into Drew's SG with auto flow. It's a supra, has auto-flow, tons of gadgets.

Problem solved no down time for removal and install.

Trust me the though has crossed my mind.

A few concerns I have with that idea are,
1 I'm not paying for the move, fuel or anything, Cluaida's company is.
2 Drews boat, although very nice and would be a steal, the colors are not my first choice, just doesn't work for my taste.
3 I really don't know if its going to be easy to pull a 50-60K loan right after i relocate, although Claudia is staying in the ame job, I need to change jobs and some times banks don't see that as a good time to loan someone recreational money.

I am more afraid if I dumped the Mojo right now, then I would have no real boat for the time I am in OR <July> and then when i did get to GA its middle of summer and I would have no boat then either.

Weighing everything out, I feel its best to stay where I am, keep my debt were it is, not to add more inquiries for loan checks and just take the move as the big change right now.

Lastly, the thing is i actually LOVE my Mojo, so I am not ready to see her go like I was my LSV.

That last reason is music to my ears
