The Mavic is a great drone. I went to the Skydio 2 with the gps beacon... been using it this winter, it’s pretty cool. Anyway, here’s a pic from today!

I just threw this together, so you could see different angles. Youtube is killing the quality tho lol.

The obstacle avoidance in the Skydio is far and away the best in any drone. Pretty crazy what they can do.The only hold back I have with the skydio is I really want the 3 axis gimbal which DJI holds the crown on, its better for stable cinematic quality footage.
It is amazing what the S2 can do though, maneuvering through tight spaces, avoiding small branches, it has intelligent, almost 360 degree view all around. Crazy tech!
Ahh, just talking about this get me all warm and fuzzy inside, cant wait to get out! One of our local smaller lakes is iced out finally, it'll be surfable in a couple of weeks, although we did get snow again today, projected to get 6 " in Twin cities, rrrg.
I propose we have a separate drone thread. Our beloved sport is so well complemented by hobby cinematography. Having a wakeboat and owning good videography equipment and technique go together like toast and butter. After all, we do this for the memories and we are always striving to grab that perfect image or video of the kids first ropeless surf, or the wifes first wipeout. Good drone videography can be very important tool in our sport.
There is so much to learn about it, how to implement it, bad experiences we can share to help others prevent the same mistakes, such as loosing the drone. I myself am going to be looking at how to make a homemade lightweight polystyrene landing skid in case drone lands in water. There are a lot of crafty guys in this forum that can help trouble shoot. ANd there are so many great drones at different price points to meet your expectations and how much you want to spend. Not everyone has to spend 1000K 4 a drone. I think this would eventually become a usefull resource thread for us.
Waiting to get out there [emoji41]

Had to scratch the itch and get out on Lewisville today. Was nice for the first 30 mins. Then wind started blowing over 20mph.

Got out for a bit yesterday. Water temp was 57.....a little chilly, but that is how we roll in Ohio! Glad to be back on the water....

And we got our 5 yo up (didn’t get full pics) but she was in the wave for a couple min - no ballast

Just a kids hyperlite, short rope so it’s a few feet off the deck, drop the speed to 7-8mph... I cheat by standing on the back deck and helping her flip the board when we go into gear *teach them to reach down with one hand and set the board manually... it helps immensely VS dragging them. I can take a video to explain better. My 9yo is up on the turn now - she’s better/easier to pull than the adults :)
She learned it fast and now gets up on her own, but that first couple runs - in my opinion - is 100% about getting them stoked. If they have a bad experience, don’t try it. Bad water, don’t try... You want them to come back and try again!
My point... I watched this guy the other night yelling and frustrated, kid was crying... dad is saying ‘try it again’ when the kid wanted out of the water... guarantee that kid won’t be doing it again soon

Shining her up, hopefully take her to the lake in the next week!!!

Used this stuff after a quick detailer and ipa wipedown, it has good reviews and was quick and easy to apply and leaves a super slick finish. I’m impressed

Was a very nice evening on the water. He was happy to be the first one to wakeboard behind the new boat and that he got up first try after not boarding last summer due to floods and sold old boat.

Water was still chilly. But that’s an easy fix. Took me a minute to figure out why I couldn’t drop the rope with her on the board with me, she didn’t get her foot all the way on the board so wetsuit bootie was dragging in the water. Fixed that and I almost took us up on the platform. Ready for more days like this and a little warmer water.

Man, that looks really good! Is it supposed to be used for marine use? I used the Hula Silica spray this year and it seemed to do the trick also.

Not specifically but figured I’d give it a try. If it doesn’t perform I’ll go back to good old meguiars flagship marine wax.

Speaking of ceramic spray products anyone try The Last Coat? I’ve been watching a lot of ceramic product videos and TLC seems pretty good. Anyone tried it?
Yes that green pops for sure! I like that ladder but looks like you don't get a swing tongue with it. I saw recently on the FB owners group a guy that had some really nice steps made but he wanted like $900 shipped so yea....I'll figure something else out later on. I have a buddy who can weld and doubt he would charge me $900 to build a few steps and plate I can bolt to my swing tongue.
there's much cheaper ladders available out there. have seen this one on a few boats over the last couple of years. looks like you can still keep the swing tongue in some applications. depends on how your swing works and spare position.

some of these floating bathtubs really need one if you have to lean over the boat to winch it. I struggle with our current boat and if we were to ever upgrade a ladder would be a must have.
I saw the one on FB, but never caught the price. I want something, but havent put any effort into it yet. It will have to look really good tho. Id pay the 900, before I put the one in the link above on my boat/trailer. It might very well work, but its a no for me LOL.
You can order the ladder directly from Boatmate that is color matched.
It's not on the website but if you reach out to them with your trailer VIN they should be able to help you out.
And yes, it won't look like the janky one from Overton's [emoji23]

I've seen those overton ladders in use at a ramp and they are not bad at 1/3 the price of the ones boatmate is building but I get it......
you guys need an angled ladder vs a vertical ladder after too many jello shot cups on the water :razz:
Lol..............
Haha my same thoughts on the handle vs not. We originally were not going to have the handle, slightly cleaner look, but BMate decided we needed it when they built it (mixed up the order). Im very happy they did, makes it very easy for kids to get in and out.
I actually wanted the fixed tongue. I'm lucky enough to have the length in my shop where I don't need the swing tongue. So it actually makes the trailer just a bit shorter not having it vs having, when not folded that is. $900 WOW that's crazy! That's way more than BMate charges. Id get your dealer to call them see if he can order it for you.
I had also found these before https://trickstep.com/#1 Of course if we hadn't ordered it with the trailer, I was going to weld one up myself and order matching paint.

“Auto wake” goofy side settings.
Great idea with the angle float level. I’m going to do the same, it’s to easy and always works. Love it.
Analog auto wake, I like it, did you put a level on the floor when installing, or just empty ballast sitting on the water?

I installed them with the boat on the trailer on flat ground. Used a level for the side to side. The front to back was measured even with the side of the glove box dash. Its not perfect but its close. Got the gauges off amazon.
Filmora has all kinds of editing tools. I play with all the photos, and videos. Thats part of the fun of editing software. ;)
