I’ve had a couple people ask me about the seat hinges as apparently Great Lakes doesn’t carry them anymore. Here is the item #/description:
“Lund Boat Complex Piano Hinge - 2008307 - 17 1/2” x 6 1/2” aluminum”
Looks like eBay had a listing a one point but sold out currently. The important thing is that it make a “Z” shape when folded shut.

I really wished they would have added a section of fiberglass under the long cushions. Then we could have the standard side triangular hinges everyone else uses these days. Such a shortsighted design in that regard but I bet the next major Max version will have adjustments made to incorporate more fiberglass bracing and hinges can be added. While they’re at it they should redesign the bow so that A) cup holders can exist on the side with redesigned upholstery B) cushions can be redesigned so that hinges can be add. I hate how heavy the front cushions are and the shape/design of them allows them to easily drop....err... fall into the storage compartment.

I ordered some 3/8" thick adhesive backed sound insulation and did just the transmission cover on my Makai. It made a difference, but you can still hear the whine. I will do the floor panel next. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210516/132817c20fba580cbad8e633c25dc52a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210516/3cea1f376ea21af5eb689a1b46094988.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210516/894507591237b461f1de25c7c5a06df1.jpg
Sent from my moto z4 using TapatalkI finally added some sound dampening to the floor pan/bottom of the boat. I honestly can't tell if this made any further difference or not..https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210711/8d2ec4fea99e919f811841c617040870.jpg

Thanks for sharing HFarr. I was wondering about doing the floor. Seems like the trans cover is the most impactful. Wondering about behind seat and sides? I see that members are doing this but Has anybody seen/ heard a significant difference with these? What about the underside of the tray? My fear on this one would be that if it came unglued, it would be right above the engine.
Update on my ‘21 Craz - the dealer recorded the whining sound and sent it to Moomba. Apparently, there are a number of complaints about the noise from the v-drives and they are having to replace them. Of course, they are on back order so just have to live with it for now. Dealer told me they see a large range of whining from extreme to almost silent. Depends on tolerances.

Wow! That's pretty interesting about them replacing drives due to the noise. But good for them if the will! That impresses me. I will mention that to my dealer when I take it in for service. On the sound dampening: When I took the floor up, the first thing I noticed is how the gas tank would seem to block most of the sound getting that far up. But, I had it up so I put on the mat anyway. I have thought about the back of the engine bay, but I think the trans cover had the most impact on sound. There is a thick foam seat back there already. When the ballast bags are full, I would think they block the sides pretty well.

Do you happen to remember what size socket or Allen head I need to remove the pedestal bolts? My boat is in storage but I wanted to head down this weekend to install the new pedestal.

How do I remove this plastic sleeve off the stock pedestal? I need to reuse it on the new adjustable pedestal. I am at the storage unit without a rubber mallet. Any ideas while I’m here?

Got the new adjustable pedestal in! Yea it’s a pain to push in that pin to raise or lower it but I didn’t really get this thing to actively change it often. More of a set it and forget kind of thing once I find the height I like. So far I have it set around 1.5-2” over stock height and that seems like it will be nice! I’ll just be glad to ditch using the bolster. Seat height can now go from stock 19” up to 24”!!

P.s. Kilmat provides comparable sound deadening/attenuation as Dynamat at a much cheaper price. Look for it on Amazon. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200212/654dbb484090b93955badaf1f48d6db3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200212/875e384187ad97b824d02148c3ebf9c9.jpg

Did you pull the plastic top off the helm and mat underneath? I'm getting a fair amount of buzz where that plastic top contacts the fiberglass, but can't really access it from underneath with the fiberglass. There's only a small access cutout for wires.
Great thread with lots of info!!

Nope, just used screws from underneath. Btw this has been one of the best mods I’ve done, so much easier for everyone.
Looks like the hinge link no longer goes directly to the item. Any idea what the part number or description of these hinges are?
Thanks
That looks like a nice solution. In travel with boards in that storage area but I think it would still be easy to get them in and out. Hmmmm, I may have to order a set.

When I looked last winter everyone was sold out and prices were triple.
If you find them let me know where. I want to add them to my mojo.
