Went out today and wanted to try setting up the boat for wake surfing. This is my first attempt. We had the surf side rear full, opposite side rear empty, front full, flow gate completely extended, wake plate 1/2, speed 10.5 mph, I sat on surf side and my wife sat middle back. We didn't have a board for my son to surf on so he drove.

Yes...there is an IBS. We have the standard 1800 lb system that came on the boat.

This is my wave. You need more curl.

Any advice on how to get there? I see you are running 1900lb surf side anything else I might look at?

Couple things.

First, with the FLOW, you need to be evenly weighted in the back to start and then empty up to a quarter of the water out of the non surf side to see if the wave gets cleaner.

Second, if your boat came as a surf edition, you should be closer to 2450 pounds (650 Left Rear + 650 Right Rear + 500 Center Tank + 650 IBS.) You stated in an earlier post that it was 1800 pounds.

I was thinking I didn't get that right from the dealer. It sure seemed heavier in the front than just 500 lbs with the bags under the seats full. I couldn't find anything in my manuals that said how much weight and where it is placed. Thanks for that info.

I read that about equal weighting and completely forgot while we were out playing around. Should I run the front full as well?

Yes, full center tank and full IBS.

Just call wakemakers and tell them your specs on your boat model. They know exactly how to weight it for surfing. They get all kinds of feedback and reviews.

I'm going to give it another go this weekend and see if I can't get it right.

Fill all bags 100%and run the g
Flow. Think Mmandley is running 750 rears with the same setup otherwise. May be 900's, either way fill em all up

I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow. I'll post some pics of the results and see what you guys think.

Tried again today. I think it was better. Ran front full, surf side full, port side 3/4 full, flow gate all the way down, 10.3 MPH. Ran at 10.5 and 11 as well. 10.3 seemed best. Only had my wife, son and myself in boat. Wake was better and curled over as mentioned earlier. I was not able to get a pic but we are going out again tomorrow and I'll be sure to get some and post. Oh question from today is this, it seemed the wave was best when I was turning slightly into the wave. I was probably turning 1-2% so it was pretty gentle. Is this normal?

10.8 MPH? Geez, I'm normally running at 9.8MPH (no flow and only the surf side 900, center and IBS full). I've never GPS verified, dealer set ours up... assume yours is verified? I might need a faster board!

10.8 is slowed down now that we have the flow which gives us the length needed to charge down the wave for speed & big airs. We used to run at 11.1. Verify speedo is calibrated correctly and speed up. 9.8 is too slow, IMO.

Jason,
Just to be clear, when you say "front full" are you referring to an IBS and a ski locker bag. The IBS being a "V" shaped bag under your open bow seats and the ski locker bag under your floor in the ski locker compartment.
If so, that's good as the LSV likes/needs bow weight. There's not a whole lot of info yet on guys running the LSV with flow. I would keep experimenting with the non surf side rear locker bag and wake plate to clean the wave. The flow is supposed to enable you to keep the rear bags equal (ish). Maybe fill everything up and slowly empty some from the non surf side while going 10.5ish to see what works. And, yes, when you turn slightly in the direction of the wave it'll make a better wave. Guys will do that if they see the surfer start to fall back and lose the pocket, the driver will make a slight turn to help them recover. Keep experimenting and remember that where your passengers sit and how many your have (portable ballast) makes a huge difference. Keep us posted and maybe some LSV Flow users will chime in.

I had both the IBS and the Fiji locker full. When I had both rear bags completely full the wake was just foam. I kept emptying the port ballast till the wake got better. I didn't try anything less than 10.3. I'll try a little slower today and see if it helps

I wouldn't go much if any slower. Keep playing with the non surf rear bag and wake plate position. Start with wake plate all the way up (which makes bow rise and forces transom deeper) then slowly adjust that to clean wave. Most LSVer's run wake plate between 3/4 to all the way up and 10.5-10.8 mph. Best thing you can do is plan on spending 20-30 mins dialing in the wave and don't be in a rush to surf, get the wave right first. You have a few variables to adjust so it just takes patience (flow, wake plate, off side bag, speed, passengers).
I don't have the flow, but for me it's full IBS, full ski locker, full port v drive bag, about 300lbs in starboard rear bag, 10.5mph, wake plate 3/4-full up. I have all passengers sit on port side, some in bow and some in back. If just me, wife and kiddos, my wife drives and I put kids in port rear corner seat.

I like my LSV at about 10.5 on the regular side. My wife prefers 9.8 on the goofy side.
