Default Hard time surfing my mondo

    Looking for help,

I have a 2019 Mondo with 750's in the rear, 500 mid and 500 upfront. I am able to get a great looking wave with 4 adult in the boat. But as soon as we start to surf it falls apart. Now, i am new to this boat. I was a wake boarder but now into surfing and do very little boarding anymore.

Dealer assured me 750's in the rear are enough. I also bought 2 -50lb lead bags to throw back there but they haven't been delivered yet. I am trying to do with withOUT autowake as of right now.

    here are my latest settings.

    center tab - 25
surf tab -non surf side - 65
    surf tab - surf side - 0

    surf side ballast - 100%
    Non surf side - 85%

all other ballast mid and front -100%

I don't know my pitch and roll, but i did see pitch at 6 and roll at -4 last time i looked. Any suggestions? I am using the 4'8" Doomswell Neo

You don’t have enough ballast in the back. I’m sorry to break it to you, but 2x 50 pound bags aren’t going to do much to improve what you have now. You really need another 500 pounds. Also I would fill all the bags to 100% and get everyone to sit at the back on the surf side. I know a lot of people want to bias more weight on the surf side, and I agree with that but I disagree with running one of the rear bag at less than 100%. I prefer to ADD more weight to the surf side rather than take it out of the opposite side. You might want to look at getting a 400 pound bag and a plug in pump and put that bag either on the seat on the side that you are surfing, or under the seat. I would also highly recommend that you upgrade the rear bags to the 1100 pound bags. Those 750s aren’t going to cut it.

Your pitch needs to be up around 8.5-9° and you simply don’t have enough weight in the rear to do that without draining the front bag, which if you do will just reduce the wave size.

Agree with adding more weight. Like goose had taught us. "There is no replacement for displacement " . But three factors you didnt mention but must be discussed. How deep was the water? What speed were you running? How big are you?

All of us are 200lbs, water is about 20' deep across the lake.

I tried different speeds, all the way from 10.2 up to 11.3

Like Stazi said, more weight. I run 4000+ lbs in my 14 Mondo. I have 1100s in each locker (they probably fill to 1000-1050) with 150 in lead under each bag, 400 center tank, 750 bow with 170 lbs lead under the filler cushion, and 200 lbs lead that gets moved around the floor depending on crew that day. Depending on crew I may use a 3-400 lb bag that I fill with a Tsunami pump that I move around.

If you want to save some money, get some Craz or Mojo take-out rear 900s. But you're gonna need lead or at least an extra bag to move around.

I have a 15’ Mondo. I believe stock ballast on that year was 650s in rear 500 hard & 500 bow. It was obviously not enough. I ordered 900s for rear & 750 for bow. Worked much better but I’m a fata$$ so I needed some more help. I piggybacked a 250lb under Port seat and that made a world of a difference with a light crew. I’ve since added 50lb lead in the bow but I think I’m gonna add 200lb more. Not so much for the extra ballast but for cruising the lake and it not beating the crap out of you. Boat rides so much smoother with center ballast filled.

Surf plate at 65 and wake plate 50-100% 10.3-10.8mph

Ok, thanks. Weight can help. Stick to the deeper parts of your lake. And last resort stick to bigger surf style boards.
