Default Surfing with OBV vs. LSV

Hi - I'm interested in an OBV given the size of my lake and it would fit in my garage. Can you tell me whether it would be worth it to just step up and get the LSV? I'm headed in the used direction and believe the LSV hull is the same '06-'12, while the OBV had a change in '09 that made it a better surf boat.

    Thanks!

I think your best option is the Mondo.

Lsv is the same hull. 06 to 14. They added extra height above the rub rail to make it deeper in 2012 and forward.

Lsv is a great surf machine, but mojo and mondo have brought surfing to new heights.

I hear you on the Mondo, but a new boat is not in my future (plus I have others that want to ski.)

Can an '06-'08 OBV make a surf wave that competes with the LSV or does the '09+ OBV still not compete?

    Thx!

I personally have not had the chance to surf an OBV. I plan to this summer though. I did own an LSV.
If you can budget an LSV and have the space to store it then Go For It. Its a larger boat, not just the length, its deeper and has more room inside.

OBV is a solid performer and is truly a Do All Boat. Lots of people on here Surf the OB and say its a great boat. Is it the best at Surfing? No but compared to the LSV its much better at water skiing. The LSV can be skied behind but its a rougher wave then the OBV.

after reading this, I'll agree with Mike. We had an '08 OBV and really liked the boat, but would still recommend an '06+ LSV if you can make that work.

Unless you are really worried about skiing, forget the OBV. You seem to want to surf. Find an LSV and sack it out. You won't regret it.

We ski behind our '11 LSV quite a bit. Well, we used too, now we mainly surf. Skiing wasn't bad at all. My wife is pretty good on the slalom and she didn't mind the wake when trimmed right.
