    Default gunnel protection

have 09 LSV. i love it except the tower. when folding it down you have to be extremly carefull not to rest the side poles om the gunnel as it will scratch or chip the gel coat -- terrible design -- my brother has an LS and has the same issue. So far what i came up with to get through the season is using foam beverage can coolers and slip them over the pole so the pole doesn't rest on the gunnell. Does anyone have suggestions? i could buy a step plate but that requires screwing into the gunnel?

    help anyone?

I just thread one of the bolts back into the arm. Then the rubber handle part of the bolt rests on the gunnel instead of the arm itself.

Buy some Seadek 3 or 5mm material in bulk sheet and cut gunwale pads for the top. I did that and they run from the rear tower mount to the sundeck. Also make some for the tower to rest on like i did here ... https://forum.moomba.com/showpost.ph...49&postcount=9

When I had to lower my tower a few times, I took a foam koozie (thick kind, not the flimsy ones) for cans, and slipped it over the end, worked well if I'm thinking the same thing you are...

    Default Gunnel protection

thansk a bunch -- Razzman or tailgate did you use 3mm or 5mm on the gunnel wall?

Appreciate both responses -- i would love to redesign that tower -- i love my boat but that tower is a pain as i have to take it down each time i run it onto my list --

I assume you meant run onto your lift, if so, i got 4 ft canopy extentions for my lift. If the lift is permanent, then go back to the seadek option.

    Default Fold it forwards

    pjw,

I fold the legs forward, towards the bow, and it rests harmlessly against the tower tubing. I then lower the tower on a home made tower stand. I have wakeboard racks and now a surfboard rack as well and everything clears.

See link below to some pics from an earlier post.

I lower my tower every time I enter my hoist. I prefer to keep the cannopy lower to allow for better protection and keep out elements. I bought 5mm SeaDek pre cut "Hot Buttons". http://www.seadekstore.com/hotbuttons-5mm.aspx

They are were super cheap (at $2ea.) and match the boat. I just put them down where the tower arm touches. They eventually start to wear out and I just replace. I am still very careful not to drop the arms down as I think it could still cause some damage.
