Thanks BobP!
How many pins are in the one you have? And does it screw to the hull as well?
I need one with at least 4 pins.

Hey Brian,
Yes, it is the same as the factory tower light harness connection, has 4 screws to attach to boat. Mine has 4 pins to cover the speakers, I'm installing on other side of boat compared to the existing light harness.
They have 2, 4, 6, 8 pin and others I think. The link below goes to the flange receptacle page:

Note, crimping the pins on the wires requires a special crimper...very expensive. I searched around and found a crimper that works fairly well. We'll see how well it works once we get out for the season and the boat bounces around a bit...

This place sells the one I bought:

I think www.wirecare.com rents the appropriate crimper.

I really like these on my tower speakers. 4 connectors with screws on the internal binding posts makes installation extremely simple. And when the connections are complete the body threads down tight to grip the wire jacket very tightly.

They are Neutrik Speakon connectors. You can see a lot of the details here: http://www.audiogear.com/Neutrik-Speakon.html

I have used nylon strain relief connectors on three different installs to get the cable into the boat. All you need to do is drill a hole wherever you want the cable to enter, insert the base with sealant around it and put the gland nut on the backside, pass your cable through the front cap and seal grommet and screw it on. Totally waterproof and they cost under a buck. Unless your planning on removing stuff there's no need for a hull connection, it's just another point of failure.
Btw these things are used for outdoor electrical boxes to make a waterproof point of entry. Black or gray and i've even seen a plated chrome like finish. You can use them with out without the cable flex boot.2007 Mobius LSV

Thanks BrainRinse!
So the one you have runs a total of 4 wires?
Looks like you mount the female receptical to the boat and then plug the male end and twist?
Do you solder the speaker wires or crimp?
I finally tracked down the Deutch connector matching my OEM on the starboard side but may go this route if it works as good/better!

Yes, the connectors I have accept 4 wires and has screw terminals so no crimping or soldering. You've got it right - push and twist and it locks in place. They are great!
