Prop upgrade question
First of all I would like to say "hello" to everyone on the forum. I am about to be a first time wake boat owner and I'm going to demo an 08 XLV Thursday. I really want this boat, the price is right, it is brand new and always stored in the dealer warehouse/showroom. Only disappointing thing is that it has the 325hp engine. How is this boat loaded with about 6-8 people, full ballast (GG III), with the OEM prop? IF upon yall's advice and I should upgrade the prop to the wakeboard prop, would there be any issues of vibration vs the OEM prop? I don't mind losing a handful of mph because I wont pull skiers. How is the fuel economy with the wakeboard prop vs OEM prop? Sorry for so many questions for a newbie but I like to do my homework before I make big commitments.

Are the props labeled/etched with the numbers and if so what numbers should I be looking for...14x14-ish?

Prop size is stamped on the hub. Wakeboard prop is 14.25 x 14. OJ part # 466.

I have this prop on my lsv--about 300lbs lighter in weight I think-boat to boat, but anyway it will put my boat on plane when I run about 1900lb ballast with no problem.

I upgraded my prop to this after upgrading my ballast to match the GG. It's great! It's actually funny to try taking off from a standstill with minimal crew and no ballast -- there is practically no delay. It is as if the boat's instantaneous speed is connected via a fixed link to the throttle. Needless to say, the boat's performance when heavily loaded remains very good.

1st time we surfed with this prop I jerked my son clean off his board!
Stock OJ and the 466 are both noisey. I've read that Acme props don't have this issue.

Upon doing some more homework on props, it seems that the Acme 14.5x14.25 is the best of the props for wakeboarding performance. While you lose some topspeed (who cares), it has the holeshot, pull without struggling, and seems to be a quiet prop with no vibration in the 2,000-3,000rpm range.
