89 octane Minimum???

So I was cruising Indmar's website looking at Specs and whatnot... When my eyes crossed over their 89 octane minimum gasoline requirement.

Anyone use 89 Octane? Or am I the only one that is using 87?

I am using 87 octane on my 09 XLV and have had no issues. I was actually on Indmars site the other day and noticed the 89 octane as well and was about to post the same question as you. Just curious as to what others are using and their suggestions.

I have a 2002 so I'm not sure if the indmar site is referring to something that old, but I have always used 87 octane.

Read somewhere where 87 is ok but they reccomend 89 because boats tend to sit and the gas can get stale and loose octane. Have always used 87 in my '05 w/EFI since new without anny issues.

I have a 07 XLV with the 340 CAT. I usually use the 89 but have used 87 in a pinch. The engines do have a knock sensor so using 87 octane will only really reduce performance. You should always use fresh gas and avoid ethonal if possible.

I have a 2000 and one manual says 89 and the other 87. I use 87 and have never had the slightest problem but I always bring plenty of ice just in case.

I always run Chevron 89. It costs a little more but i like to run what they say. I run 87 in my truck with no issues and have tried 89 and 91 and always end up with the same mileage and performance so i don't see a change. I don't think i want to stomach 30 gals of 91 in the boat. As is 30 gals of 89 is costing me 80

I have been running the 89 with 10% Eth. in my 09 LSV. The 89 is actually cheaper than the 87 that way. I am not a fan of the Ethanol but I havent had any problems yet.

shoot, I run 93 octane. Doesn't matter what brand, it all comes off the same gas truck. I just fill up at kroger (southern grocery store) on the way to the lake, 10 cents off per gallon with a kroger card, makes up the diff between the 89 and 93

IMO...by stating the use of 89 octane gasoline.....its a clever way of saying that the 10% Ethanol is ok without directly saying it.
