    I'm with kane, i would not have stuck around to disprove the myth. Can't teach stupidity I guess she was just born with it. waverunner 15ft on the beach, she is definately lucky to still be here.

    It's not the liquid you worry about - it's the vapor. Gas cans sitting in the sun/heat can 'off-gas' due to thermal expansion. This vapor is highly flammable.
    If you believe something to be true, it will be - in it's consequences.

    You beat me to it. It was 95 out. A small ember from a cigarette will start a forest fire -- it will certainly ignite the vapors.
