sled,
Jabsco makes impeller puller, but for an Outback, i can't imagine needing one. It makes a huge difference when you are reaching around the backside of the engine. My outback was a breeze to change compared to my LSV..
just found this on ebay:

Actually there is a story about that impeller, an old MasterCraft, deep blue smoke coming out of the exhaust, new exhaust hoses, the awful smell of buring rubber, cylinder head rebuilds and LAKE VEGETATION. Which to sum it up explains why we ordered an inlet water strainer on the Moomba. I kept the part so I would have the part number for use when ordering a new impeller for the MasterCraft. Would you believe that this was a brand new impeller!!!!

I guess this could also go under the best thing I bought for the boat but since we ordered it as an option I am not sure it belongs there. The clear plastic on the strainer really woke us up to the amount of vegies that get sucked up into the engine. We have to clean it out about once a week but it is an easy job. It sits right behind the engine and only takes a couple of minutes. But we truely understand now why we had such a problem with the Stars and Stripes! It might just be the best option we ordered for the boat, it is a close tie with the Z-Cargo Bimini top!

Scott, never mind what i wrote earlier about this-there is so much more room to get at the empeller on the new hull style lsv. undo the 4 lttle bolts holding the cover on-pry the old one out, lube the housing and shove the new one like the old one came out, put gasket and cover on, tighten bolts. open can of Yuengling. drink and your done
