Thinking about a an Outback V
We are starting out search for a new boat. We have owned OB and sterndrive bowriders in the past. We are now looking for a dedicated water sports boat.
We mostly ski, knee board and take the kids tubing. We are by no means pros or anywhere close. We also want to start wake boarding once we get the new boat.
Here is some info:
We live in Virginia Beach, Va and will be using it on the ICW and Currituck Sound (both are brackish). We also make 2 trips a year to Lake Gaston in NC.
Where we boat on weekends it does get choppy (1ft give or take) later in the day. Can the Outback V handle this?? Any Outback V owners out there care to comment on any likes/dislikes?
Thanks.

axg - Ed is giving you good advice. With its deeper hull, in rougher water the Outback V will give you and your passengers a drier ride. The Outback DD is perfect for my family and the private lake on which we ski and wakeboard, but even on that relatively small body of water we sometimes take in water over the bow. It soaks whoever is up front and gets into the storage area. To stay dry and have a great all around boat, sounds like the V would be a great choice for you. - Deerfield

Thanks for the info. The water in your photo looks very similar to where we boat. Sometimes it is smooth as glass early in the AM but later whips up a bit and looks like your photo. The more I read about the Outback V the more I like it.
Anyway you can tell me the storage measurements of the boat?? I want to store it in our garage. I have a 7' high door opening, double car width door and 23.5 feet of depth. I plan on getting a swing away tongue for the trailer.
Never tried wake surfing but it may be something to try if we decide to get the boat.

Axg,
You should not have any problem with a standard garage. If you elect the swingaway tongue and still leave the platform on...it will 22' long. If you remove the platform it will be under 20' 6". Should also be under 7' in height with the tower folded down, which is a pretty easy operation. Hope that helps

Thank you very much. That is exactly what I was looking for. It is also impressive that you took the time to answer a potential owner's question. Not many companies are willing to take the time to do so.
We really like the Outback V and are looking forward to getting a closer look at it.

AXG - My family is on our second Moomba and couldn't be happier. Great boats at great prices with a huge community of fanatically loyal owners. We started out with a DD Outback and then went to the LSV. Both tremendous boats that have really held their resale values. I was on Ed's new 2009 Outback V on New Years Day and I think that might just be the perfect boat. I don't think you can go wrong there. I would trade for one in a second.
