Getting to the shaft packing
How do I go about getting to the packing nut in a 2001 OB LS? I removed the screws from the floor, got ready to slide it out and the power wire ( and another one, blue in color) is running through a factory cut hole in that particular section. Did not have this in the other boat. I actually think that the packing is too tight 'cause I'm hardly getting any water in the hull. What's the trick to getting this piece out?

I am no expert - but I would love to have your problem. My 99 Mobius does not seem to want to hold a seal. I have had it repacked twice and had the shaft aligned last winterize. Still fightning me. I read somewhere that a drop a minute is fine so I would be reluctant to undo anythiing.
If you believe something to be true, it will be - in it's consequences.

I just think that not enough coming in may "groove" the shaft from getting too hot. I really wanted to get a look at it and make sure everything is OK.
