Default More Gas - Wakeboarding or wakesurfing

Lets get the opinions - what uses more gas? Wakeboarding or Wakesurfing?
My thoughts are wakesurfing uses more.

I would think you gas usage would increase and you RPM on your engine increases. I know you are adding strain on the motor with more ballast, but I would think the added RPM would pull more gas. I could be wrong, it has happened before, just ask my wife.

When the boat is on plane, which is close to wakeboarding speed should give you better economy gas wise. Plowing along at surf speed not so much.

I burned $60 in 1.8 hrs the other day surfing.
    It was only 2600lbs ballast.

Holy smokes, Newty. That's 15 gallons. I can run half a day on that. Love my Outback!

Hmmm, I thought wakeboarding got the best mileage. But I'm comparing my buddy running his Outback with a couple hundred LBS of ballast versus mine at tourney speed. We're not running no 2600lbs, well unless I bring my mother in law for a ride! ha ha ha ha ha
