    Default Oil Change

I am planning on doing my first oil change on my lsv this week-Never changed oil on a boat before any tips or heads up??

Planning on pumping oil out anything i should know? Im borrowing the pump from a buddy he said the end of the hose is threaded to fit his boat--i can't imagine that this would work for my boat as well so im sure i'll need to connect a hose to it and run it in to drain it all oil out...

Ive done a million oil changes on other toys and don't mind jumping into new projects with my motorcycle however i find myself a lot more timid to jump into anything with the boat.

I do my own oil changes on my boat. I use a pump system that has a hose that goes down the dip stick and is powered with a drill. This system works great and I can get all the oil out. Make sure when you change the filter you fill up the filter with new oil before screwing it on. If you have changed oil on other vehicles you should be fine. Put down towels aound your work area and under the filter to help with clean up.

    ajmotitz17,
you should have a hose with 1 end connected to the oil pan and a threaded cap on the other. This is what your buddy probbably connects his pump to. The end with the cap has a clip that is usually fastened to the lifting eye on the engine.

you probably know this, but, make sure engine/oil is warm... it will not pump or drip out well cold.. trust me..

Also, get a quart or gal ziplock bag, put around oil filter after you have broken loose.. keeping this around the filter will keep you from making a mess.. plus, may wanna keep a plastic grocery/walmart bag handy to put that in....
