new prop questions

Ok so i keep reading that everyone should have 2 props- I currently only have the one that came on my 08 lsv- Want to buy a back up- I know that there are a lot of diff. types that help/hurt diff. things. I am all about wakeboarding and enjoy surfing and skating. which prop do you guys recomend and how much will it cost me......

also can someone break down the props and truning- do some make the boats turn better? and it seems like when i put my boat in reverse and turn wheel all the way to left it wont come around. i was warned that wakeboard boats were gonna be tougher in the docks and its really not that hard at all now that im used to it but i just wanna be able to explain to people why when they ask me.

I think regardless to what prop you use, the boat is going to back up to the right because of the direction of rotation of the engine. Turning the rudder to the left will not help significantly.

As far as a spare. I'm gonna git me the same thing that's on mine now (one that came from the factory).

Your boat will always back to the right (Nautiques to the left). You have a prop in front of a rudder. In forward, you are pushing water over the rudder making it (the rudder) effective. Even at slow speeds, you don't get much response. The more water you put over the rudder, the more steering you get. In reverse, you are pulling water from the sides of the rudder and not directly over it (unless you go full throttle reverse). The prop only 'grabs' water on the down side of the spin and this is what makes the boat pull to the right; it is called squat. In prop aircraft, it is called P-factor.

The new XMP prop from OJ is supposed to be a really good one for wakeboarding. It will run you close to $400 plus $100 for a prop puller.
