Ignition left on - burned up coil
Left the key on overnight; this ran the battery dead and added 15 hours to the engine hour gauge/meter. Charged the battery and still no spark to crank engine. While looking inside distributor cap, noticed the breakerless ignition module was hot to the touch. New module was $80 at www.skidim.com vs $150 at boat dealer. Not sure if this was problem or not because the replacement did not work until after I replaced the ignition coil too. Running great now.
My friend said his key was left on in his 71? corvette and it burned up his breakerless points too. He said it only took about 15 minutes on the vette.
