Tower install
My 2008 outback has (4) # 10 or 1/4 in screws for each foot on the tower. Backing those up, is a 1/4 inch fender washer with a nut. Is this the installation method everyone has??

Sounds just like what is in mine. Were you expecting something different? If so, what are your thoughts.

I don't know...maybe a steel plate that the 4 screws attach to in the gunwale. I'm thinking it could have been more structurally built. I'll probably put some backing in mine tho...

With the new deck designs the backing plates are no longer needed.

Seems like backing would be a good idea to disburse stress points. I know other boat mfgs. have backing. On the other hand, I'm sure SC would do it if it was absolutely necessary.
llxlv - just curious what's new about the deck design that eliminates the need for backing?

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem!
