Default The Old Boomerang is Back!

Hello out there from Lake Muskoka, Ontario, Canada

I finally decided I would learn how to post some pics as I'm nursing a broken femur through the winter. Hopefully it will be ready for the wakesurfing season this summer. Yes you can surf behind a boomerang!!! hahaha. My boat is sitting in a boathouse under about 6 feet of snow, about a nine iron shot away from my window and it's killing me to be stuck in here. But there's always a sunny day on the water to look forward to.

Cheers to all you moomba fanatics on the lake this year. Have a safe and happy season!

    best,

We used to surf behind my old Boomerang too. Nobody else would believe it so I'm glad to see some pics. Only problem was the noise. Those suckers have a loud growl at that slow speed.

Now that is a much more impresive wake than I would have ever thought a boomerang could produce! I traded my 97' boomerang in for my current boat but I had never and still really haven't tried surfing, but I never would have guessed my boat would have been capable of that! what kind of weight do you have to get in that thing to get that size wake? And how often does the water climb up that nose and get in boat with that much weight? Nice Boat though!

    Default Boomerang

Nice Pics of your Boomerang. Not too many of us left on this Board. I never thought of wakesurfing with it. what are your speeds/prop setups? Hope you get healed up soon. I may be looking at the last of the ice on my lake. Can't wait till spring and the first boat outing of 2008....

    Thanks guys,

I'm in love with the old girl. I've sometimes thought a new moomba but she runs really well and i can't give her up. I think if you look after something properly it can last you a lifetime.

Wakesurfing was always something we did with a rope before I took a little business trip out to Vancouver and rented a boat (deep cove watersports was the place) with an excellent driver. He taught us that it's really all about the technique and you can pretty much wakesurf behind any inboard motor. All you have to do he said is keep the nose of your board pointed at the corner of the boat and keep your weight on your front foot. Coming from guys who were used to riding with a rope, we'd always have all of our weight set to the back of the board. As soon as we put it forward we were instantly surfing.

It's not a huge wake but we can make it from one side of the lake to the other and do some tricks a long the way. I have a skylon fatsack that fills up to a max of 600lbs. we keep it set to one side if there's not a ton of people in the boat and if there is i'll lay it flat across the back. No water ever comes in the boat but you have to be a good driver to make it work.
The wake may not be big but it looks that way when you're sitting in the driver seat of a boomerang thats for sure.

I think that was you jdsharpe that tipped everyone off about the LED lights. GOOD CALL. i may pick some of those up for the side panels. I'll send some pics through in the spring when it's all done.
